The giant Google continues to make changes, and this time, it has fallen to the look of the results page when the search is done from your own app.
A series of visual changes with which the user seeks to find the information in a much faster and more efficient way, thus improving his experience.
Substantial changes
-
It gives greater visibility to the information source
The link URL appears at the top of the results card, and instead of highlighting it in green, it now identifies it as black. This is intended for the user to quickly identify the information source and avoiding the access to sites where the content is of dubious credibility.
-
A more considerable distinction between advertisements and organic results
Google wants to help users better identify business results, because, according to a recent study, more than half do not know how to distinguish them. To do this, they add the label ‘Ad’ in bold next to the URL, in all those results that are paid.
-
Includes the Favicon next to the result
When the result is organic, it also shows the Favicon next to the website link. It is another way to prove the website veracity since the brand image is much more identified.
With these changes, the first thing that the user will see is the Favicon or the black label ‘Announcement’ next to the link, and then the title and meta description will appear, as we show you in the following example:
This new look is just the beginning of an endless number of changes that are about to come, which will improve usability and immediacy. Google has announced that soon, they can “add more buttons with useful actions and previews.”
Now, the ease existing to change the Favicon of a web makes the effectiveness of these adjustments questioned. Google ads assure the user that they are accessing a secure site, with control by the company. If a website uses the ‘Ad’ label as Favicon, how can organic and paid results be differentiated?
Once again, it gives us to think that beyond usability and user experience, Google’s priority will be to show more and more advertising, selling more advertising space and thus increasing their income.
